Irma Calabrese

Irma holds a Bachelor degree in Theatrical Design (set & costume design, puppetry) from Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts (Lithuania, 2004). She also graduated from International School of Colour and Design Australia in 2006 and holds a Certificate IV in Design, continuing Diploma studies of Colour Design. At the moment she is studying Interior Design at the Design Centre Enmore TAFE. She is also a painter, has had numerous exhibitions solo and in collaboration with other artists in Lithuania, Czech Republic and Australia. Her works explore themes of life as theatre, issues of culture, language, isolation, family. Moved to Sydney 3 years ago, leaving behind a career in Europe. Created set and costume design for 3 theatrical productions in Sydney theatres, set & costume design / continuity for short film. Her work in Australia has extended beyond the theatre to include film, solo and group exhibitions of her visual art, symposiums, workshops, further studies and research in colour and design, interior design and jewellery. In 2005-2006 participates in DIS/PLACE project organised by MCA, CAC and ICE, Sydney. In 2008 she works on a short film production design. Irma's paintings became part of private collections and local galleries in Lithuania, Italy and Australia.
